All-in-One UV Packaging Printing Machine for Cardboard, Plastic, and Wooden Boxes

If you’re wondering whether there is a packaging printer that can handle a variety of materials—such as cardboard, plastic, and even packaging label printing—the answer is yes. It’s called the UV Packaging Printer — a machine that prints directly onto product packaging using UV inkjet technology, with no need for plates and no minimum order quantity.

In today’s highly competitive market, attractive product packaging plays a crucial role for most businesses. A well-designed package can instantly grab consumers’ attention and significantly boost sales. Our packaging printer provides strong support for digital packaging solutions, covering a wide range of printing effects from basic full-color printing and 3D embossing to glossy varnish finishes and metallic foil effects.

UV Packaging Printer Printing Video - Detailed Printing Process

The UV packaging printer can print on a variety of materials. In the following video, we will use a metal can as an example to show you the printing results. We want to print a full-color design with a varnish effect, so we will be using our X4060UV dual-head packaging printer—one print head is used for printing color ink, and the other is used for printing varnish. A full-color image with added varnish not only appears glossier than standard full-color prints, but it also provides better protection for the printed design.
Step 1: Place the blank metal can that needs to be printed onto the printing tray. You can choose to print just one, or print multiple metal cans at once, depending on your specific needs.
Step 2: Next, upload your pre-designed image to the printing software, and then adjust the printing parameters, such as the printing position, ink volume, and other relevant settings.
Step 3: Once everything is ready, you can click the “Print” button directly within the printing software. The printer will begin printing, and then we simply wait for the machine to finish the operation.
Step 4: After the printing is complete, we can check the final result to see if the printed effect meets your requirements.

A Variety of Machine Types for You to Choose From

We understand that not all businesses have the same printing requirements—some only need full-color printing, while others may require additional effects such as varnish or gold foil. Therefore, as a manufacturer of packaging printing machines, we produce different models tailored to the specific needs of various customers. In terms of size, we offer printers in A4, A3, and A2 formats. In addition, we provide both single-head and dual-head UV packaging printers. If you are looking for the highest-spec UV digital packaging printer, we recommend the X4060 Dual-Head UV packaging printer. If you are a beginner and only need to meet basic printing needs, the X2030 A4 Single-Head UV packaging printer is also an excellent choice. Of course, you can always contact us directly, and we will recommend more machines that match your specific needs.

Printing Effects of the UV Packaging Printer

A qualified product packaging printer that can print full-color designs certainly adds visual appeal to product packaging. However, in today’s highly competitive market environment, color printing alone is far from enough. To more effectively capture consumers’ attention and elevate the overall product grade, we need to incorporate more creative printing effects into packaging design. The UV packaging printer is a professional device that supports multiple printing effects. Full-color output is one of its basic functions and is suitable for various packaging materials. In addition, through flexible settings in the printing software, it can achieve a variety of high-value-added printing effects, including 3D embossing (creating a three-dimensional texture by layering white ink), varnish effects (selective gloss coating to enhance shine and depth), and metallic foil effects (providing metallic textures or bright accents).

Full-Color Printing

The packaging printer machine uses five ink colors: Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Black, and White. The four CMYK colors are mixed in different proportions to produce a wide range of colorful images. White ink (W) is primarily used to create a white base layer on dark or transparent materials, allowing the color inks to accurately reproduce true colors without distortion caused by background colors.

Embossed Printing

By layering white ink multiple times, a basic three-dimensional pattern is formed on the packaging material’s surface. Then, color inks are layered on top to present a full-color image with a 3D embossed texture.

Varnish Printing

If you want to create a glossy varnish effect on your packaging material, you can choose our dual-head packaging printer, which supports printing full or partial varnish coatings on top of color prints, further enhancing the packaging’s texture and premium feel.

Metallic Foil Printing

For dual-head packaging printers, metallic foil effects can also be achieved. The specific process is as follows: first, print a layer of varnish design on the packaging surface; then apply the metallic foil material, and use a laminating machine to heat and press it, firmly bonding the foil to the varnished areas, ultimately creating a design with a metallic texture.

What Materials Can the UV Packaging Printer Print On?

Product packaging boxes on the market come in a wide variety of forms. Depending on the nature of the product, different items may require different types of outer packaging. Our UV packaging box printer uses eco-friendly UV ink and advanced UV curing technology, making it suitable for printing on a wide range of materials. It is especially well-suited for food packaging printing, which has high demands for material compatibility and environmental safety. Whether it’s smooth surfaces like glass and metal, or slightly textured paper surfaces, the packaging printer can deliver excellent printing results.

Plastic packaging printing

Plastic packaging printing

Plastic materials are widely used in the packaging industry and are favored by most businesses. Common items such as medicine bottles and cosmetic containers are typically made of plastic, due to its lightweight nature, portability, and stable quality. PET, PVC are among the most common types of plastic. UV ink adheres strongly to plastic surfaces, and the printed designs are highly resistant to peeling or fading.

Metal packaging printing

Metal packaging printing

Metal is a hard and durable material often used in the packaging of premium or delicate products. It offers excellent protection against compression and moisture. Common examples of metal packaging include candy tins and tea boxes. You can print full-color designs, varnish finishes, and embossed effects on metal surfaces to enhance the overall appearance and perceived value.

Paper packaging printing

Paper packaging printing

Paper packaging is widely adopted for disposable products due to its lightweight nature, easy formability, and low cost. Common paper types include corrugated paper, white card stock, and coated paper. The packaging printer delivers great printing performance on paper-based packaging materials such as gift boxes, product labels, and paper bags.

Wood packaging printing

Wood packaging printing

Compared to paper, wood packaging material is more durable and sturdy, and it also offers reusability. As a result, wood is not only used as a product’s outer packaging but also adds collectible and commemorative value. Consumers often keep wooden packaging for the long term, using it as memory boxes, storage containers, or decorative items. You can print your logo directly on the wood surface to strengthen brand recognition among customers.

Glass packaging printing

Glass packaging printing

Glass is commonly used for packaging perfumes and alcoholic beverages, as it does not easily react with various liquid products, making it ideal for preservation. Most businesses use transparent glass, while some choose colored glass, such as black glass, which offers light-blocking properties. Regardless of the glass color, when printing designs with the packaging printer machine, we recommend first printing a layer of white ink before applying color ink in order to accurately reproduce the colors in your design.

Printable Dimensions of the UV Packaging Printer

Product packaging materials typically vary in length, width, and height, making size compatibility of the printing equipment especially important. Our packaging printing machine offers a flexible printing range that can accommodate a variety of packaging formats, including boxes, bottles, jars, and bags. Taking our largest model, the X6090 UV packaging printer, as an example, it has a maximum printable area of 60 × 90 cm and a maximum printable height of 13 cm, which suits most common packaging sizes. Within this printing range, users can flexibly adjust the printing area and height according to their actual needs, making it suitable for a wide range of packaging materials such as paper boxes, wooden boxes, and more.

Core Advantage of the UV Packaging Printer — A Highly Flexible Packaging Printing Device That Supports Both Personalized Small-Batch Printing and Large-Scale Custom Production

Compared to traditional packaging printing methods, such as screen printing machines, completing a full design often involves a complicated and time-consuming process. The typical workflow includes: graphic design → plate making → color registration → sample printing → mass production. In particular, the plate-making step is not only time-consuming but also expensive, which is why most businesses opt for high-volume printing to offset the cost. However, this becomes highly inconvenient for customers who need small batches or a variety of custom designs.

Our packaging printer perfectly addresses this challenge. It uses advanced UV inkjet technology and requires no plate making—simply import your finalized design into the printing software, and you can directly print full-color designs onto the packaging surface. Even if you’re printing just a single item, it’s absolutely no problem. It saves both time and cost. In addition, UV printing supports fast design revisions and flexible output. If you are not satisfied with the initial print result, you can simply make adjustments in your design software and reprint it—without any additional cost or waiting time. From the design file to the final printed product, the entire process can take as little as 10 minutes, truly achieving “design and print on demand,” and providing you with an efficient and convenient packaging printing experience.
